Care Guide

SILK SCARVES

Your scarf is more than an accessory, it’s wearable art. With a little care, it will stay as radiant and soft as the day it arrived.

To help you get started, each order includes a complimentary sample from The Lab Co., which is a eco-friendly, non-toxic and suitable for delicate fabrics like silk.

  • Non-bio & safe for sensitive skin

  • Paraben-free, phosphate-free, and phthalate-free

  • No chlorine bleach, added dyes, or 1,4-dioxane

  • Eco-friendly, lightweight, and travel-ready

Handwashing:

  1. Cut/tear off a small piece of the strip (or a silk-friendly laundry detergent of your choice)

  2. Dissolve it in cool water.

  3. Add your scarf, swirl gently, rinse the scarf thoroughly in cold water until all detergent is removed. Avoid wringing or twisting, as this can damage the natural fibres.

  4. Let it air dry naturally.

Dry Clean:
For the best results, take your scarf to a trusted professional who specialises in delicate fabrics.

Handle With Care:
Be mindful when styling jewellery, zips, or brooch pins may catch the silk.

Avoid Harsh Contact:
Keep your scarf away from perfume sprays, deodorants, and unexpected rain showers to maintain its sheen.

Store Smart:
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. We recommend keeping it in your 100% natural cotton Scarf Sanctuary Bag to protect it between wears.

Ironing:
Use the “silk” or low-heat setting and place a clean pressing cloth between your iron and the scarf.

Think of your scarf as an heirloom piece - timeless, expressive, and made to journey with you.

JEWELLERY

To maximise the life span of your Be The Other handmade jewellery, please follow the care instructions below:

  • Try to avoid your jewellery coming into contact with perfume, hairspray, deodorants, body spray, creams and lotions.

  • The wearing of BTO jewellery whilst asleep, in the shower, sauna or whilst participating in sports is NOT recommended.

  • Do not leave jewellery on or drag jewellery across hard surfaces.

  • When not in use, keep BTO jewellery in the suede (vegan friendly) pouch, wrapped in a soft cloth or in a box or an airtight container.

Gold Vermeil

Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe your gold vermeil jewellery after each wear. This helps remove any oils or residue. Refrain from using abrasive materials or rough fabrics for cleaning, as they may scratch the delicate gold surface. If needed, give your jewellery an occasional deep clean with a mild soap and lukewarm water. Gently scrub with a soft brush and pat dry with a clean cloth. Remember, proper care ensures that your 18ct gold vermeil jewellery retains its luster and stays a dazzling part of your collection for years to come.

Sterling Silver

Gently wipe your jewellery with a soft lint free cloth after wearing, to remove your natural skin oils, Do not use abrasive cleaners or cloths. Keep away from damp and warm conditions. If it becomes tarnished, gently wipe with a silver polishing cloth.

Bronze

Excessive cleaning and polishing can also wear out your bronze jewellery and affect its durability so do this only when required. However, wiping your bronze jewellery before and after wearing is recommended as it cleans the piece without affecting its luster. When storing your bronze jewellery, it is important that there is no moisture present.
